Novel 2D catalyst breaks the ties bound in methane
Methane, which produces more warming than other greenhouse gases, is the subject of newly announced US emission restrictions. Methane is hard to break down and keep out of the atmosphere. Researchers at Iowa State University have found a catalyst technology that appears to be meeting all the requirements. Those reactions exhibit about 7% methane conversion with 95% selectivity toward ethane/methylene conversion. The products can be turned into plastics and resins, like polyethylene.
